In brief
Monefit SmartSaver at a glance
SmartSaver is an easy way to lend to one profitable, audited consumer lender at a fixed rate, and it has paid every withdrawal on time since its 2022 launch. The caveat is concentration and structure: the whole balance is exposed to the Creditstar Group, the operator is not licensed as an investment provider, and the terms let Monefit suspend withdrawals and pay them pro rata when new money runs short.

What is Monefit SmartSaver?
Monefit SmartSaver is an investment account run by Monefit Investments OÜ, a Tallinn company owned by the Creditstar Group. You deposit euros, and SmartSaver credits a fixed advertised return every day: 7.5% APY on the flexible main account, or 9.42% to 10.52% if you lock money into a Vault for 12 to 24 months. Behind the balance sit consumer loans issued by Creditstar Group companies.
Monefit is also a consumer-credit brand: the "1.7 million users" on its homepage are mainly borrowers of the Creditstar Group, not SmartSaver investors. Creditstar reported about 30,000 verified SmartSaver investors at the end of 2025; the product page claimed 48,000+ in September 2026.
The short answer to the search "Monefit review": SmartSaver is a simple, fixed-rate way to lend to one consumer lender. Monefit itself says it is "an investment platform, not a savings account or bank product", and that is the right way to read it. The profile with our score is at Monefit; the methodology explains how the score is built.
How does SmartSaver work?
Creditstar's lending companies issue consumer loans. Monefit buys claims on those loans from the lenders and assigns them to you under an assignment agreement; SmartSaver's terms state that investors "cannot buy any claims from Lenders directly".
What you actually own
Your balance is made up of SmartSaver Claims: either the full principal of a claim under a consumer credit agreement or a percentage of it. You do not see which loans you hold, and there is no marketplace in which to trade them. The only buyer is Monefit.
How you get money back
Withdrawing means selling your claims back to Monefit. The terms say you are entitled to the resale price once other SmartSaver users have bought the claims "and/or" sufficient funds have been allocated to Monefit's SmartSaver account. If there are not enough funds, payments to all users "are suspended" and later made pro rata. In plain terms, day-to-day liquidity comes from new investor money and whatever Monefit chooses to put in.
What happens with defaults
If an underlying loan defaults, Monefit "has the right" to repurchase the claim and replace it with an equivalent one. That is a right, not an obligation. In practice it is how SmartSaver shows a smooth rate; legally, your return depends on the Creditstar Group continuing to fund those replacements.
Who runs Monefit?
- Monefit Investments OÜ (registration number 11953111, registered 9 June 2010, formerly Monefit Card OÜ) operates SmartSaver. The Estonian business register lists its activity as "other activities auxiliary to financial services", share capital of €50,000, one management board member, Tauri Jaanson (since 24 January 2025), and OÜ Creditstar International as sole shareholder.
- Creditstar Group AS is the consolidated group. Its chief executive and management board member is Aaro Sosaar, who is also the beneficial owner of Monefit Investments OÜ. The supervisory board consists of Silva Sosaar, Valter Kaleta and Kristjan Vahar.
- The group's sole shareholder is SA Financial Investments OÜ.
Creditstar has 13 subsidiaries and lends through regulated companies in eight markets: Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Poland, the United Kingdom, Spain, Czechia and Denmark. In January 2026, Creditstar UK Ltd received approval from the Financial Conduct Authority to operate as a mainstream consumer credit lender.
This is a privately held, owner-controlled group. The operator, the borrower and the ultimate owner are related parties, so SmartSaver has no independent party between you and the company using your money.
Getting started: registration and funding
SmartSaver is open to residents and citizens of the EEA and Switzerland aged 18 or over — 30 countries in all — and to companies registered there. You need a bank account at a regulated institution in the same area.
- Register on monefit.com or in the SmartSaver app and verify your identity.
- Add money by SEPA bank transfer in euros, quoting your customer reference number, or by card or Apple Pay.
- Leave the money in the main account at 7.5%, or move at least €100 into a Vault of 12 to 24 months.
- Optionally set up Auto Invest for regular deposits, scheduled withdrawals, or Passive Income Mode, which pays out monthly interest from the main account.
The minimum investment is €10 and the maximum €500,000. Bank transfers are free. Card and Apple Pay transfers cost 1% after the first seven days — on a 7.5% product, that is nearly two months of interest, so a bank transfer is the better route.
Before you deposit, read the Risk Disclosure Statement linked from Monefit's legal page. It is unusually frank about what can go wrong.
How easy is Monefit SmartSaver to use?
SmartSaver is quick to open and simple to run: sign-up is five short steps, and the main account needs no settings at all.
Signing up The account-opening guide lists five steps: email and password, personal details, your document type and number, then a selfie plus photos of the front and back of your ID, which Veriff checks. Passports, ID or residence documents and driving licences from the EEA or Switzerland are accepted. You need a personal bank account in the same area.
Deposits - Card or Apple Pay: credited to your main account instantly. Free for the first seven days after verification, then 1%. - SEPA bank transfer: free, in euros, quoting your customer reference number.
Investing Money in the main account starts earning with no portfolio to build. Optional extras are Vaults with a fixed term, and Auto Invest for regular deposits, scheduled withdrawals or monthly payouts through Passive Income Mode.
App and dashboard An Android app was released in August 2026; Monefit says an iOS version is coming. The app covers balances, daily returns, deposits, Vaults, withdrawals and Auto Invest, but accounts must be created on the website first, and the calculator, tax reports and profile settings stay web-only for now. The web account statement shows daily activity and period totals for any date range and downloads as a CSV file.
Documents and support - Tax report: in your profile under Tax Report, for any period, as a PDF. - Support: an AI assistant answers around the clock in the chat, with human agents who "typically reply within minutes" during business hours, Monday to Friday 8:00–16:00 CET. Email support is also available.
Returns: 7.5%, not 10.52%
Monefit's homepage leads with "10.52% APY". That is the rate on a 24-month Vault, not on money you can withdraw. The rates on 21 September 2026 were:
- Main account: 7.5% APY, flexible access.
- 12-month Vault: 9.42% APY.
- 24-month Vault: 10.52% APY.
The main account rate went up from 7.25% to 7.5% in June 2025. In 2025 Monefit also offered 6- and 18-month Vaults; the current Vault terms (version 4.0, from 2 September 2026) give a range of 12 to 24 months.
These rates are advertised, not average or realised. Monefit calls them "expected" and says returns are "not guaranteed". There is no loan-level data from which to calculate a realised return; what the investor sees is the credited rate, and so far that has matched the advertised one. Creditstar's accounts show €17.8 million of returns paid to SmartSaver investors from the Q4 2022 launch to the end of 2025.
To put the price of risk in context: Creditstar pays a 14.5% coupon on at least one of its unsecured bonds (ISIN EE3300004498, due June 2027), and its 2025 net interest margin was 14.4%. SmartSaver is one of the group's cheaper sources of money. The 7.5% reflects the credit risk of a high-cost consumer lender, discounted for the convenience of flexible access.
Fees and costs
The price list effective 6 January 2026 has five lines:
- Bank transfer deposits: free.
- Bank transfer withdrawals: free.
- Auto Invest transfers: free.
- Card and Apple Pay deposits: 1% of the amount (free during the first seven days after verification).
- Card and Apple Pay withdrawals: 1% of the amount.
There is no management fee. As with any fixed-rate product, the real cost is the margin between what borrowers pay Creditstar and the 7.5% you receive, which funds the group and its loss reserves. Monefit's risk article says surplus earnings are directed to loan loss reserves and operational sustainability.
The one fee that hurts is on cards. A €1,000 card deposit and card withdrawal together cost €20 — more than a month's interest. Use bank transfers.
Withdrawals and liquidity
Monefit markets SmartSaver as flexible, and in ordinary times it is. The actual rules are narrower than "withdraw anytime":
- Standard withdrawals: up to 10 business days, plus one to three days at your bank. Your money keeps earning until paid.
- Instant withdrawals: up to €1,000 per calendar month, usually within minutes. Launched in November 2025.
- Limits: €50 minimum per withdrawal and €50,000 maximum per transaction.
- Scheduled withdrawals: you can book payouts up to 365 days ahead.
- Vaults: locked for the term. Early closure requires contacting support, forfeits all the additional Vault returns and takes 30 days.
Monefit says 100% of withdrawal requests have been paid on time since launch. That is a real record, but a short one: SmartSaver started in late 2022 and the money invested in it roughly doubled in 2025 alone, so it has not yet been tested by sustained net outflows.
The structure is the important part. Your withdrawal is a sale of claims back to Monefit, paid from new investor money or funds Monefit allocates. Monefit's risk statement says you "may not be able to fully withdraw all of the funds invested whenever you wish", and its help centre says large simultaneous withdrawals "could result in delays". The loans behind SmartSaver do not mature every ten days. Creditstar held €46.8 million in cash at the end of 2025 against €285.2 million owed to SmartSaver investors.
Treat the main account as usually accessible within two weeks, and Vault money as locked.
Buyback and guarantees
SmartSaver has no buyback guarantee in the sense used on marketplaces like Mintos. There is one clause that works similarly: if an underlying loan defaults, Monefit "has the right" to repurchase the claim and replace it with an equivalent claim, or pay you the resale price if no replacement is available.
Two things follow. First, it is a right, not an obligation, so it is not a promise to investors. Second, even when used, it is only as strong as the group behind it. Monefit Investments OÜ has €50,000 of share capital; the capacity to replace bad claims comes from the Creditstar Group's profits and funding.
There is no collateral: the loans are unsecured consumer credit. There is no third-party guarantee, no insurance and no deposit protection. Monefit's risk statement says: "Receiving a return on your investment is not guaranteed."
The honest way to see SmartSaver is as an unsecured loan to the Creditstar Group, packaged as a daily-accruing balance.
Regulation and investor protection
The investment product is not licensed. We found no investment firm, crowdfunding (ECSPR) or other investment licence for Monefit Investments OÜ; the business register lists no licence, and the SmartSaver terms are governed by Estonian contract law. Monefit's risk statement says investments "are not made in or accompanied by a prospectus that is lodged with or registered by a regulatory authority" and that there is "no strict statutory obligation" to give investors the information they might want.
The lenders are. Creditstar's lending subsidiaries hold consumer-credit licences in their markets. Monefit Estonia OÜ, for example, appears on the Estonian Financial Supervision Authority's list of licensed creditors, and Creditstar UK Ltd was approved by the FCA in January 2026. Those licences govern lending to borrowers, not the protection of investors.
What does not protect you
- No deposit guarantee. Monefit states SmartSaver is not covered by deposit guarantee schemes under Directive 2014/49/EU. This is not a bank deposit.
- No investor compensation. It is also not covered by investor compensation schemes under Directive 97/9/EC.
- No segregation terms. We found no clause in the terms on how claims or cash are ring-fenced if Monefit fails.
The practical protection is the group's audited balance sheet and its incentive to protect a cheap funding source. That is a commercial reason, not a legal one.
Creditstar's financials and bonds
Because every euro in SmartSaver goes to the Creditstar Group, its accounts are the most important document for a SmartSaver investor. The 2025 consolidated report, audited by KPMG Baltics OÜ and dated 22 June 2026, shows:
- Interest income: €110.9 million (2024: €74.0 million).
- Net profit: €13.5 million (2024: €7.2 million).
- Gross loan portfolio: €533.9 million (2024: €414.0 million); net €482.2 million after provisions.
- Equity: €85.1 million; total assets: €545.2 million.
- Borrowings: €454.3 million, of which SmartSaver €285.2 million, bonds €90.3 million and other facilities €78.8 million.
- Net debt to equity: 4.9 times (2024: 4.1).
- Cash: €46.8 million (2024: €6.7 million).
The group is profitable and growing, and its return on equity was 17.3% in 2025. The same figures show how dependent it has become on SmartSaver: money from SmartSaver investors almost doubled in a year, from €145.1 million to €285.2 million, and now makes up 63% of the group's borrowings. Operating cash flow was negative €97.9 million in 2025, covered by €139.3 million of financing, much of it from SmartSaver.
Creditstar raised €53 million through two bond issues in 2025. Those bonds, like SmartSaver, are unsecured obligations of the group. SmartSaver investors therefore rank alongside other lenders to a single, leveraged consumer-credit business, with no public market price for their exposure.
Monefit SmartSaver vs Bondora Go & Grow
Bondora's Go & Grow is the nearest alternative: a capped rate, daily returns and on-demand withdrawals, with no loan selection. Compared on like-for-like access:
- Rate: SmartSaver's flexible main account pays 7.5%; Go & Grow pays up to 6%. The 10.52% headline needs a 24-month lock, so the fair comparison is 1.5 points, not 4.5.
- Access: Go & Grow pays most withdrawals within three business days for €1 each. SmartSaver pays €1,000 a month instantly and larger amounts within ten business days, free by bank transfer.
- Record: Go & Grow has run since 2018 and slowed withdrawals once, in 2020. SmartSaver launched in 2022 and has paid every withdrawal on time, but has only known growth.
- Lender: both are single-group exposures, to Bondora and Creditstar respectively. Creditstar is larger and more leveraged; Bondora sells almost all its loans to investors.
- Regulation: in both cases the lender is licensed and the investment product is not. Neither has deposit protection or an investor compensation scheme.
Neither rate is a promise, and in both the ability to withdraw depends on reserves and new money. Read our Bondora Go & Grow review, or see them side by side at Bondora vs Monefit.
Main risks
- Single-group credit risk. All money funds Creditstar. If the group runs into trouble, there is no other lender in the portfolio.
- Funding-dependence risk. SmartSaver is now the group's largest funding source. If inflows slowed, both Creditstar's lending and SmartSaver withdrawals would feel it at the same time.
- Liquidity risk. The terms allow payments to be suspended and made pro rata; Vaults cannot be exited for 30 days and lose their extra return.
- No investor-side regulation. No licence, no prospectus, no compensation scheme and no deposit guarantee.
- Opacity. You cannot see the loans you own, their performance, or the size of any reserve set aside for SmartSaver.
- Regulatory risk in lending markets. Creditstar lends high-cost consumer credit in eight countries; rate caps or licensing changes in any of them affect the whole group.
These are not bank deposits. Size SmartSaver as you would an unsecured bond from a single high-yield issuer. The risks page compares these risks across platforms.
Taxes
This is general information, not tax advice. How SmartSaver income is taxed depends on your country of residence.
Monefit does not withhold tax: returns are paid gross, and Monefit says it does not submit tax reports to authorities. You are responsible for declaring the income. A tax report is available as a PDF in the Profile section, and account statements can be exported as CSV.
Because returns compound daily and are credited to your balance, many countries treat them as taxable when credited rather than when withdrawn. Sign-up and referral bonuses may also be taxable income. Check with a tax adviser in your country of residence.

Monefit says every withdrawal since the 2022 launch has been paid on time.
Frank risk disclosures

Every euro funds Creditstar, and SmartSaver is 63% of the group's borrowings.
No investment licence
Monefit Investments OÜ is not licensed as an investment or crowdfunding provider and issues no prospectus.
Liquidity can be suspended
Withdrawals depend on new money or Monefit's funds and can be paid pro rata.
Headline rate needs a lock-in

Who is it for?
May suit
- Investors who want a fixed rate and are comfortable lending to one consumer-credit group
- People who can wait up to two weeks for withdrawals above €1,000 a month
- Investors who read audited accounts and will monitor Creditstar's results
- EEA and Swiss residents who can declare gross interest themselves
Probably not for you if
- You want an emergency fund or a substitute for a bank savings account
- You need a licensed provider or any investor compensation scheme
- You would struggle with a few weeks of suspended or pro-rata withdrawals
- You already have exposure to Creditstar through other platforms or its bonds
Alternatives to Monefit SmartSaver
Bondora · P4U Safety Score 5.4
The closest substitute: a lower capped rate with a longer record and quicker standard withdrawals, funding Bondora instead of Creditstar.
Mintos · P4U Safety Score 7.6
A MiFID-licensed investment firm with many lending companies and an investor compensation scheme for platform failure, with less liquidity.
PeerBerry · P4U Safety Score 5.0
A marketplace spreading money across several lending groups, if you want to avoid a single-lender exposure.
Final verdict
Monefit SmartSaver is what it looks like: a fixed rate paid by one consumer lender that wants a steady, cheaper source of funding. The lender, Creditstar, is profitable, growing and audited by KPMG, and SmartSaver has paid every withdrawal on time since 2022. For an investor who understands that, 7.5% with fortnightly access is a reasonable price.
What the interface does not show is the structure. Monefit Investments OÜ is not licensed as an investment provider, there is no prospectus and no compensation scheme, and your balance is a set of claims that only Monefit will buy back — when new money or Monefit's own funds allow. SmartSaver has grown to €285.2 million, 63% of Creditstar's borrowings, so the product and the group now depend on each other. A slowdown in inflows would test both at once.
Our view is that SmartSaver can hold a limited slice of a loan allocation, sized as an unsecured exposure to a single high-yield issuer rather than as savings. Keep flexible money in the main account and only use Vaults for money you are sure you will not need for two years; the step from 7.5% to 10.52% is payment for giving up access, not a better product.
Compare it with Bondora Go & Grow, which pays less on a longer record, at Bondora vs Monefit, and see how Monefit's score is built on the Monefit platform page.

Open an account with Monefit SmartSaverFrequently asked questions
Is Monefit SmartSaver safe?
SmartSaver is backed by a profitable, audited lender and has paid all withdrawals on time since 2022. But all money funds one group, Creditstar; the operator is not licensed as an investment provider; there is no deposit guarantee or investor compensation scheme; and the terms allow withdrawals to be suspended and paid pro rata if funds run short. Your capital is at risk.
Is Monefit regulated?
The investment product is not. Monefit Investments OÜ holds no investment or crowdfunding licence and issues no prospectus. Creditstar's lending companies are licensed consumer lenders in their markets — for example Monefit Estonia OÜ with the Estonian Financial Supervision Authority — but that covers lending, not investor protection.
What return does Monefit SmartSaver pay?
7.5% APY on the flexible main account, 9.42% on a 12-month Vault and 10.52% on a 24-month Vault, as advertised on 21 September 2026. These are expected rates, not guaranteed; the 10.52% headline requires locking money for two years.
What is the minimum investment on Monefit?
€10 for the main account, up to a maximum of €500,000. Vaults require at least €100. Withdrawals have a €50 minimum.
How fast can I withdraw from Monefit SmartSaver?
Up to €1,000 per calendar month is usually paid within minutes. Larger amounts take up to 10 business days, plus one to three days at your bank. Bank-transfer withdrawals are free; card withdrawals cost 1%. Vaults are locked; early closure forfeits the extra return and takes 30 days.
Does Monefit have a buyback guarantee?
No. Monefit has the right, but not the obligation, to repurchase defaulted claims and replace them. Any such support comes from the Creditstar Group and is only as strong as that group.
How is Monefit income taxed?
Monefit pays returns gross, with no withholding, and does not report to tax authorities. You declare the income in your country of residence using the tax report in your Profile. Check with a tax adviser.
Is there a Monefit bonus or referral code?
Monefit runs sign-up and referral promotions, and their terms change. Check the current offer and its conditions on Monefit's own website before registering, and do not let a bonus decide whether the product suits you.
