Our verdict

Twino is a licensed, audited investment firm that did eventually repay its frozen Russian book in full, but it is no longer a diversified marketplace. AS TWINO Investments has been supervised by Latvijas Banka since 31 August 2021, with EUR 20,000 compensation cover if the platform itself fails, and it has published audited accounts every year since 2015–2016. It also froze a fifth of its portfolio for four years, expects to lose about EUR 1.6m in Vietnam, and has closed or wound down every market except Poland. Every euro on the platform today funds one Polish credit-card lender, Fincard (NetCredit), owned within the same group — and Poland's consumer authority UOKiK charged Fincard in June 2026 over the card fees behind its margin, just as the EU's revised consumer credit rules apply from November 2026.

What works

  • Investment firm licence from Latvijas Banka since 31 August 2021, with EUR 20,000 investor compensation if Twino itself fails (not if the lender fails)
  • Audited financial statements published every year since 2015–2016, most recently the 2025 annual report on 31 March 2026 — one of the longest runs in the market
  • It followed through on Russia: all principal and interest was paid by 5 August 2026, and Twino added its own money to close the Philippines book
  • EUR 1 minimum on fixed-term securities; investing, deposits and EEA withdrawals are free

What doesn't

  • Diversification is gone: one country and one lender, Fincard (NetCredit), owned within the same group as the platform and the securities issuer
  • UOKiK charged Fincard on 15 June 2026 with using card fees to get around Polish credit-cost caps (penalty up to 10% of turnover), and the revised EU Consumer Credit Directive applies from November 2026
  • Recoveries were slow and partial: Russian investors waited four years or took 80% of principal in a limited early-exit offer, and about EUR 1.6m in Vietnam is unlikely to come back
  • No buyback on the current securities — you are paid only from what Fincard pays, backed by a pledge — and a EUR 10 monthly inactivity fee applies after six months without new investments

Who this is for

Investors who value a real licence and audited accounts over diversification, accept that the platform, the issuer and the lender are one group that would stand or fall together, and keep the position small.
