The best P2P lending platforms in Europe for 2026: the seven we rate highest
Most lists rank P2P platforms by interest rate. We rank them by how likely you are to get your money back. Seven of the 25 we cover score 6 or more — here is what each does best and who it suits.
Search for the best P2P lending platform in Europe and most lists rank by the highest interest rate. We do it the other way round: our score asks how likely you are to get your money back. Of the 25 platforms we cover, seven score 6.0 or more out of 10. All seven are licensed in the EU and publish audited accounts.
That doesn't make any of them risk-free, and the order is not a ranking of returns. Each of the seven does something particularly well and suits a different kind of investor. Here they are, from the highest score down.

What "best" means here
Our safety score (0–10) weighs six things, roughly in proportion to how often each has actually cost investors money since 2020:
- Regulation (30%): an investment firm licence or a European crowdfunding (ECSPR) licence, and whether investor compensation applies.
- Track record (25%): years of operation, what went wrong and whether investors were made whole.
- Transparency (15%): audited accounts, loan-level data and recovery figures.
- Liquidity (15%): whether you can get out before maturity.
- Concentration (10%): how much depends on a single lender or group.
- Yield sanity (5%): a very high advertised rate counts against a platform, not for it.
Five of the seven — Mintos, Debitum, Indemo, Nectaro and Twino — are investment firms supervised by Latvijas Banka, so the Latvian investor compensation scheme applies, up to €20,000, if the platform itself cannot return your money. EstateGuru and Lande hold ECSPR crowdfunding licences. The full method is on our methodology page.
Which one suits you
- One diversified account as your core: Mintos.
- Property loans with a mortgage behind each one: EstateGuru.
- Farm loans with a low loan-to-value: Lande.
- Loans to businesses: Debitum.
- Something different — discounted Spanish mortgage debts: Indemo.
- A small licensed addition in consumer loans: Nectaro or Twino.
1. Mintos — score 7.6
Mintos is the platform we score highest. AS Mintos Marketplace has held a MiFID investment firm licence from Latvijas Banka since 17 August 2021 and keeps client assets separate from its own.
- Diversification in one account. Many lending companies across several countries.
- Open about bad years. Mintos publishes net returns and loss rates for every year since 2015, including the −1.2% of 2022.
- A working secondary market. €468 million has been sold on it so far, and performing notes can usually be sold within days.
- Clearly labelled rate. The 10.28% shown is the current average interest rate; the minimum is €50.
Good to know: the buyback comes from each lending company, and investor compensation does not cover lender defaults — Nera Capital has been in payment delay since April 2026. Core Loans cost 0.39% a year and secondary market sales 0.85%.
2. EstateGuru — score 7.1
EstateGuru has lent since 2014 and has held an ECSPR licence from Estonia's Finantsinspektsioon since 8 May 2023.
- A mortgage behind every loan, held for investors by a separate collateral agent, most of them first-rank.
- Unusually open figures. Yearly default rates, recovered amounts and recovery times, bad years included; €70 million of principal has been recovered from defaulted loans.
- A Baltic focus. Since 2023 EstateGuru lends only in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, and reports 97% of the €275 million lent there as repaid or performing.
- A cheaper exit. The secondary market seller fee fell from 3% to 1% in November 2025.
Good to know: a mortgage changes how a loss happens, it does not prevent one. By EstateGuru's own count 20.14% of loans defaulted in 2025. Fees include 0.083% a month on invested money and €3 per withdrawal. The 9.32% shown is its average historical return.
3. Lande — score 7.0
Lande lends to farm businesses, with most new loans secured on farmland or machinery at an average loan-to-value of 41%. SIA LANDE Platform has held a European crowdfunding licence from Latvijas Banka since 7 February 2024.
- No investor fees, including on secondary market sales.
- Profitable and audited. Lande made a €206,485 profit in 2025, with a clean audit opinion.
- Detailed monthly reports showing arrears by collateral type and country.
- Different drivers. Farm loans follow harvests and land values rather than consumer spending.
Good to know: there is no buyback, enforcement through the courts is slow, and on 21 September 2026 about 27% of the amount not yet repaid was late or defaulted. The 11.2% shown is the average interest rate, not the return after losses.
4. Debitum — score 6.9
Debitum is one of the few business-lending platforms with a full investment firm licence: SIA DN Operator has been authorised by Latvijas Banka since 21 September 2021.
- Investor compensation. If Debitum itself could not return client assets, the Latvian scheme covers 90% of the loss, up to €20,000.
- No investor fees for deposits, withdrawals or investing, and a €10 minimum.
- Profitable. The operator reported a 2025 net profit of about €507,000, audited by BDO.
- Business loans — a different exposure from most consumer-loan platforms. The 11.5% shown is Debitum's stated all-time average.
Good to know: there is no secondary market, so money stays invested until maturity. One issuer, the Latvian Forest Development Fund, made up an estimated 65–86% of outstanding investments in spring 2026, so check the concentration before you invest.
5. Indemo — score 6.6
Indemo offers something none of the others do: Spanish mortgage debts bought at a discount, with each Note tied to one debt. Indemo SIA has held a MiFID investment firm licence from Latvijas Banka since 15 November 2022.
- Licensed, with compensation cover of up to €20,000 if Indemo fails to return your cash or Notes.
- Audited accounts published for every year since 2022, with a clean 2025 opinion.
- A built-in cushion. Debts are bought below the outstanding claim, which leaves room for recovery costs and a softer property market before investors lose principal.
- From €10, with no deposit, investment or withdrawal fees.
Good to know: you are buying a legal recovery process with no interim interest, no secondary market and no early exit, and timing depends on Spanish courts and debtors. On 21 September 2026, €4.7 million of €38.0 million invested had come back. The 15.1% shown is Indemo's own moderate-scenario target, not a realised return.
6. Nectaro — score 6.1
Nectaro is young — the platform launched in October 2023 — but has a solid legal base: SIA Nectaro has held an investment firm licence from Latvijas Banka since 29 March 2023.
- Approved prospectuses. Notes are issued under base prospectuses approved by Latvijas Banka, with a key information document that explains the risks plainly.
- Audited. The 2025 accounts carry an unqualified opinion from BDO Assurance.
- Investor compensation of 90%, up to €20,000, if Nectaro itself fails.
- No investor fees on its price list, and EU/EEA private investors can have tax withheld at 5%.
Good to know: all lending companies belong to the Dyninno group, and the buyback and parent guarantee come from that same group. The platform made a €1.43 million loss in 2025 and has no secondary market. The 14% shown is an advertised maximum.
7. Twino — score 6.1
Twino has run since 2015 and has published audited accounts every year since 2015–2016. AS TWINO Investments has held an investment firm licence from Latvijas Banka since 31 August 2021.
- From €1, with free investing, deposits and EEA withdrawals.
- It saw a hard case through. All principal and interest on its frozen Russian loans was paid by 5 August 2026.
- Investor compensation of up to €20,000 if Twino itself fails.
- Two simple products. Fixed-term securities advertised at 8.5–12%, and FLEXI at a fixed 6% with withdrawals subject to liquidity, up to €10,000 per investor.
Good to know: today all of Twino's products fund one Polish lender in the same group, Fincard (NetCredit), which Poland's consumer authority UOKiK charged over its card fees in June 2026. There is no buyback on the current securities, and an inactivity fee of €10 a month can apply after six months without new investments.
Spread rather than pick one
Even the best-scored platform can have a lender fail. Many investors keep one diversified account, such as Mintos, as the core and add one or two platforms with a different kind of borrower — property, farmland or businesses — so that no single platform carries everything.
Before you invest
- Compare like with like. We label every rate as an average, an advertised maximum or a target. None of them is what you keep after defaults, fees and tax; our net return calculator helps you estimate that. What each licensed platform charges for deposits, withdrawals and selling early is compared in our guide to P2P lending fees.
- Read the full reviews: Mintos, EstateGuru, Lande, Debitum, Indemo, Nectaro and Twino.
- See the whole field. Our platform comparison lists all 25 platforms with their scores.
P2P lending is not a savings account: there is no deposit guarantee, returns are not guaranteed and you can lose money. Investor compensation covers the platform failing, not loans that go wrong. Our risk guide explains how.
