Alternatives to Mintos: four licensed platforms, depending on what you want
Mintos is our highest-scored platform. If you'd like business loans, property, farmland or a second platform to spread your money, these four licensed platforms each do one thing particularly well.
Mintos is the platform we score highest of all 25 we cover. It is a licensed investment firm supervised by Latvia's central bank, it keeps client money separate from its own, and it spreads your money across many lending companies in one account. For a lot of investors it is the natural first stop in P2P lending, and for many it stays the core of their portfolio.
So this isn't a "leave Mintos" article. People look for alternatives for their own reasons: they'd like loans to businesses rather than consumers, want collateral they can picture, such as property or farmland, or simply want to spread their money across a second platform. Each platform below is a good answer to one of those wishes, and all four are licensed in the EU, like Mintos.

Start with what you're looking for
- Starting with tiny amounts and no fees: Twino, from €1.
- Loans to businesses, with investor compensation: Debitum.
- Property loans with a mortgage behind every loan: EstateGuru.
- Farm loans with a low loan-to-value: Lande.
Twino: licensed, and small amounts welcome
Twino has run since 2015 and has published audited accounts every year since. AS TWINO Investments has held an investment firm licence from Latvijas Banka since 31 August 2021, which brings the same Latvian investor compensation as Mintos: up to €20,000 if the platform itself cannot meet its obligations to investors.
- From €1. Fixed-term securities start at €1, so you can begin as small as you like.
- No fees for the basics. Investing, EEA deposits and EEA withdrawals cost nothing.
- It saw a hard case through. When its Russian loans were frozen, Twino recovered and paid investors all principal and interest by 5 August 2026.
- Clear rates. Twino advertises 8.5–12% a year on fixed-term securities and a fixed 6% on FLEXI.
Good to know: today all of Twino's products fund one Polish lender in the same group, so Twino works best as one part of a wider portfolio. An inactivity fee of €10 a month can apply after six months without new investments.
Debitum: business loans in a licensed account
If you'd like to lend to companies rather than consumers, Debitum is one of the few business-lending platforms with a full investment firm licence. SIA DN Operator has held its authorisation from Latvijas Banka since 21 September 2021.
- Investor compensation. If Debitum itself failed to return client assets, the Latvian scheme covers 90% of the loss, up to €20,000.
- No investor fees. Debitum charges nothing for deposits, withdrawals or investing.
- Audited and profitable. The operator reported a profit for 2025, audited by BDO.
- A growing platform. Debitum reported €70.20 million of outstanding investments and 34,521 registered investors in its September 2026 update. It states an all-time average interest rate of 11.50%.
Good to know: there is no secondary market, so money stays invested until each note matures. In 2026 one issuer, the Latvian Forest Development Fund, made up most of the outstanding portfolio, so check the concentration before you invest.
EstateGuru: property loans with a long track record
EstateGuru has lent since 2014: €966.7 million across almost 8,000 loans, to more than 160,000 active investors. Estateguru OÜ was authorised as a crowdfunding service provider by Estonia's Finantsinspektsioon on 8 May 2023.
- A mortgage behind every loan. The mortgages are held for investors by a separate collateral agent.
- Unusually open figures. EstateGuru publishes yearly default rates, recovered amounts and recovery times, and reports €70 million of principal recovered from defaulted loans by mid-2026.
- Focused on the Baltics. New loans go to Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, where its lending since 2023 has performed much better than its older book.
- A way out early. Since November 2025 selling on the secondary market costs sellers 1%, down from 3%.
Good to know: a mortgage does not prevent defaults. EstateGuru's own figures show a default rate of 20.14% in 2025, and recovering property takes time. It charges a small monthly fee on invested money and €3 per withdrawal. The 9.32% shown is its historical return.
Lande: farm loans with real collateral
Lande is the alternative for anyone who wants something entirely different from consumer credit. It lends to farm businesses, and most new loans are secured on farmland or machinery at an average loan-to-value of 41%.
- Licensed. SIA LANDE Platform has held a European crowdfunding licence from Latvijas Banka since 7 February 2024.
- No investor fees, including when you sell loans on the secondary market.
- Profitable and audited. Lande made a €206,485 profit in 2025, with a clean audit opinion on its accounts.
- Different drivers. Farm loans follow harvests and land values rather than consumer spending, which can balance a portfolio of consumer loans.
Good to know: Lande suits money you can leave for two years or more. There is no buyback: if a loan goes wrong, your protection is the collateral, and recovering it through the courts takes time. The 11.2% shown is the average interest rate, not the return after losses.
Or keep Mintos and add one
You don't have to choose. Many investors keep Mintos as the diversified core of their portfolio and add one platform with a different kind of borrower: a business, a property or a farm. Spreading across two or three platforms also means no single platform carries everything.
Before you move money
- Compare like with like. We label every rate on this site as an average the platform publishes, an advertised maximum or a target. None of them is what you keep after defaults, fees and tax. Our net return calculator helps you estimate that. What each licensed platform charges for deposits, withdrawals and selling early is compared in our guide to P2P lending fees.
- Read the full picture. Each platform's review shows our score, what works and what doesn't: Twino, Debitum, EstateGuru and Lande. How we score is explained in our methodology.
P2P lending is not a savings account: there is no deposit guarantee, returns are not guaranteed and you can lose money. Investor compensation covers the platform failing, not loans that go wrong. Our risk guide explains how.
